In modern society, more and more people are focusing on individualism, the freedom to make their own choice. With that in mind, Swedbank had good reason to believe that bank cards with its customers’ own pictures on the front would be a success. And so it was from the very beginning, explains Veronica Kennegård Hedeby, Product Manager Debit Cards at Swedbank.
“Since the launch on the 12th of June this year, we have experienced very satisfactory sales of the new cards. We have made it very easy for our customers (who must be 18 years or over) to do the job themselves via the internet. We produced a demo showing the procedure step by step and how cardholders can get the best and most creative result out of the picture taken with their digital camera. They can also choose from among various pictures in our gallery within categories such as sports, leisure, animals and black & white.”
Successful competition As a part of the launch campaign, Swedbank ran a competition called “Sweden’s nicest debit card.” “This was a real success,” Veronica Kennegård Hedeby says. “We received about 42,000 suggestions and voted three winners over the summer. We are now planning new marketing activities to promote our popular, individual bank cards.”
