ID Cards
ID cards can take on many shapes, the best known probably being the standard (in Sweden: SIS labelled) ID cards, which are valid for ordering bank transactions or collecting registered post, etc. However, there are also a large number of special cards, such as ID cards issued to public officials such as postmen, policemen and policewomen, etc. and internationally valid press cards. In addition, many companies have chosen to issue their own ID documents, often so as to allow cards issued to be also used as keys to the company’s entry system –for example to garages and entrance halls.

The ID cards nowadays are built on smart card technology and and the electronic ID cards are advanced cards with several technical functionalities and high security based on PKI technology (Public Key Infrastructure). These cards with built in encryption features are used for safe login in computer systems, signing and distribution of secret documents.
