SIM
The Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) is the official term for the subscription card used in the GSM mobile telephony system. A SIM card contains the subscriber information needed for the mobile phone to connnect up to the mobile network, the PIN intended to protect the phone against abuse, and normally a list of the cardholder’s personal telephone numbers as well.The SIM standard has also been drawn up to accommmodate extra services. In the next generation mobile network, generally referred to as the 3G network, SIM technology has been further developed to a system named USIM (Universal SIM).
