Thermal printing
Thermal printing is based on leading a colour tapeover heat elements which burn the information required into a design on the plastic card. This is a simple printing process which can be carried out with relatively inexpensive thermal printers, and is therefore suitable for smaller card series. A modern variant of thermal printing is to equip the plastic card with athermochromatic coating. Following a renewed burning process this coating then can be made to change colour, for example, in time with the card being used.
