Travel document
A travel document is used to provide access to a transport service. In contrast to a ticket, which confirms an agreement between a carrier and a passenger, the travel document is the document that gives actual access to the transport service or journey. This distinction is made frequent use of today in the transport industry,as travel documents may often be re-used over a long period of time. One example is the use by airlines of credit cards or bonus cards as an entry mechanism when boarding an aircraft.
